Important COVID-19 testing expectations and reminders

Dear campus community,
 
Testing is an essential tool in managing the spread of COVID-19, and as more students, faculty and staff physically return to campus, I wanted to clarify testing expectations for all members of our campus community.
 
All students who are physically returning to campus or the College Park area must have a pre-arrival and post-arrival COVID-19 test.
 
All faculty and staff scheduled to physically work on campus are also required to have a COVID-19 test no more than 14-days prior to the date of return to work on campus.
 
Testing will continue at Maryland Stadium, Monday through Friday, through September 4, from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled at return.umd.edu.
 
In addition to scheduled appointments, which I strongly recommend, Walk-In testing is also available at Maryland Stadium on Friday, August 28 and from Monday, August 31 through Friday, September 4 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Anyone wishing to participate in Walk-In testing must register at return.umd.edu/covid/testing prior to testing.
 
All students, faculty and staff are required to attest to their test results at return.umd.edu regardless of where your test occurred, even if done on our campus. Please go to this site and confirm your test results. Any student, faculty or staff with a prior positive test will be exempt only after emailing health@umd.edu for advice on how to provide documentation. I also encourage you to visit the University Health Center website for more testing information.
 
Given its importance, testing events will be conducted regularly throughout the semester for those who are physically on campus. Testing events will occur again, for three weeks, during the weeks of September 14, September 21 and September 28 for everyone who physically visits campus. Following October 2, testing will be conducted one day every week for about 1,500 members of our campus community. More information about these testing events and future dates will be forthcoming.

Athletics

Home of the Terrapins, the University of Maryland has one of the nation’s most recognizable and successful athletics programs. More than 550 student-athletes compete each year in 20 intercollegiate sports—12 for women and eight for men. Since 2005 alone, Maryland has won 19 national championships, including NCAA titles in women’s basketball, men’s soccer, men's lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, and field hockey. Since joining the Big Ten Conference in 2014, UMD has won a combined 32 regular season and tournament championships. Fear the Turtle!

Student Life
