Richard Bell

Richard Bell is a leading scholar of American history, with expertise spanning the years 1750 to 1877. Bell is also the author of The American Revolution and the Fate of the World, a new book that "re-examines America’s founding fight not just as a conflict between rebels and redcoats but as a global event that shook the world."

Bell's other work has focused on the history of American slavery, cultural formation in the new United States, and early American incarceration.
