On Saturday, June 20, 2026, the university learned of a campus-wide power outage. Crews have been working diligently to address the outage. 

This webpage will be used to provide updates. 


Sunday, June 21, 2026 at 10:30 a.m.:

Some buildings remain without power at the University of Maryland due to the outage that began on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 3 p.m. 

Information about this outage and restoration progress will be posted to umd.edu/aware. 

Targeted communications continue to on-campus residents.

Students and instructors with summer classes are asked to frequently monitor emails. 

For impacted on-campus camps, information will be communicated by individual camp program directors.

Building impacts and necessary adjustments to employee schedules will be communicated later today.

 


Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 7:45 p.m.:

Crews continue to work on the campus-wide power outage. Phased power restoration is expected to begin overnight. There is not yet an estimated time for full restoration.

Targeted communications continue to on-campus residents.

If you are experiencing an issue with accessibility in an affected building, please call FM’s Customer Response Center at 301-405-2222.

During an outage, individuals with mobility impairment and/or a disability should call UMPD at 301-405-3555 for egress assistance and 911 for any life safety issue.

 


Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.:

A campus-wide power outage has occurred. Facilities Management staff are on site assessing the situation. 

Crews are being dispatched to individuals in elevators.
